All-Natural Organic Headache Remedy Salve With White Willow Bark
This Headache Remedy salve contains the healing herbs of white willow bark, peppermint & pine. All botanicals/herbs, pine resin etc used in our salves/herbal oils are homegrown on our property and/or from wild foraging deep in the mountains in Northern Maine. It's safe alternative to over the counter medications and offers relief from those headaches which aim to keep you down.
The bark of white willow contains salicin, which is a chemical similar to aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid). In combination with the herb's powerful anti-inflammatory plant compounds (called flavonoids), salicin is thought to be responsible for the pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory effects of the herb.
Pine resin is anti-microbial making it very nice to use topically on wounds of various types. It's also known to be anti-inflammatory, so it's equally nice to ease muscle and joint pain. Pine resin can increase circulation, which also explains why it helps with pain relief. Pine resin has been an important part of natural eastern and western medicine for thousands of years, and its healing properties are widely known and appreciated, even to this day.
Peppermint has the known effect of cooling the skin and inhibiting muscle contractions while stimulating blood flow in the forehead when applied topically. Peppermint has been clinically proven to reduce pain, relieve tension and improve blood circulation.
Our Headache Remedy Salve is crafted using organic menthol crystals which create a cooling sensation by triggering skin receptors. This makes it a popular pain-reliever. Menthol crystals are also expectorants. Often used to treat flu, colds and bronchitis, loosening mucus to lessen congestion.
